I agree, I felt a litte disappointed walking out of there. That the basis was on the special effects and the story fell on the wayside. Seems to be a trend with Hollywood. They forgot you (the public) need to be connected to the characters to be drawn in and caught up in their plight. Maybe we as society do that as well. :/

I applaud you for writing this and trying to say the things that most of us choose not to. I really believe that God is the only One who has any right judging, but as flawed, broken human beings we tend to try to take over and judge people, and ourselves, on our own. I think it’s a good thing to be aware that you’re judging people and that it’s wrong because it means you can try to change your ways in that aspect of your life.
As someone who is quite aware of the fear of being judged, I understand not wanting to open up about your beliefs. The fear placed upon us by judgment can be overwhelming, but passing up an opportunity to share your heart with someone can lead to regret. We are called on to share our beliefs, as Christians, with others and this doesn’t mean to press your opinions on passerby, but when we can’t even talk about how we feel about Jesus with friends or acquaintances for fear of misrepresenting Christ or being judged we fail in a way.
Being human, we fail all the time. It comes from our brokenness, but that doesn’t mean it hurts any less or is any easier when we know this. We will never have the perfect words to explain our faith to others, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have to try anymore. It means we have to try harder and try with the knowledge that we will never have the perfect words or the perfect anything and that’s what makes being human so heartbreakingly beautiful in the first place.
Honesty is so powerful. Being honest and vulnerable always has two possibilities: you can have your ideas rejected or you can change someone’s life. Change someone’s life. Why would we let our fears stop us from helping other people? It’s a selfish kind of fear that grips onto most of us more often than we like to admit, and it’s a hard one to shake off. Shaking it off comes with a wonderful reward, though. You are given the freedom to try and fail.
Like you said, that more hearts have been led to God by loving fools who fail quite regularly than by intellectual parlance or perfect theology.

I'm responding to your request for stories in the hope of sincere prayer.

I have a friend. Gets yelled at by spouse for talking to people on the phone. Is nearly cut off from family and has no clese friends because of spouse's restrictions. Is told they are incapable of doing anything well or useful. And spouse is threatening to Kick my friend out of thier home. This is not a loving relationship. My friend's spouse is controlling and mean (abusive?likely.)

Please pray my friend will see thier own worth, know they are not alone, defy unreasonable demands, be safe, and be brave enough to no longer be opressed. Even if it seems impossible.
